For many people, having discolored or stained teeth is a source of embarrassment or self-consciousness. Many of our patients face stains because of past poor dental hygiene, the use of tobacco products, or frequently drinking coffee or tea. They often request teeth whitening after at-home products have proven to be ineffective, or they want to whiten their teeth in a way that is proven to be non-damaging. Fennell, Yoxthimer, and Associates, DDS offer safe and effective professional teeth whitening services for our patients. What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is also referred to as teeth bleaching or even “power bleaching.” It is a professional dental service to remove stains and discoloration safely and effectively, resulting in whiter and brighter teeth. Our doctors trust Life-Like for their teeth whitening treatments, which offers both at-home and in-office solutions.

How Does Life-Like Work?

Life-Like Bleaching offers professional teeth whitening for anyone looking to brighten their smile. With the help and guidance of your dentist, you may notice the effects of these treatments within the first few days. Life-Like offers at-home treatments that use 15%, 20%, or 30% water based carbamide peroxide, which prevents dehydration and lowers sensitivity. A custom dentist-designed tray will be created to fit the contours of your teeth to ensure the best results. The tray is to be worn twice a day in 20-30 minute increments, as prescribed by your dentist. The short wear time makes the process easy and convenient, and treatments are to be continued for only 7 to 10 days.

Who is a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is generally safe and effective, but there are some patients who are not suitable candidates. In general, professional teeth whitening is best for patients who have surface stains on their teeth as a result of smoking, drinking coffee, or poor dental hygiene. It is possible for some patients to have genetically darker-colored teeth. In these cases, surface stains can still be removed by teeth whitening, but results will be less noticeable compared to other patients. Some patients with highly sensitive teeth may find the in-office treatment uncomfortable, in which case your dentist may recommend you use the Life-Like at-home whitening treatment. Your dentist will advise whether teeth whitening will be a suitable and effective treatment for you after a consultation.
